Leading Liberal Democrats back trunk road improvements for Dundee

Cllr Allan Livingstone (Perth & Kinross Council) and Cllr Alison McInnes (Aberdeenshire Council) who head up the regional transport partnerships for the Tayside & Central (Tactran) and the North East of Scotland (Nestrans) have both backed plans to improve Dundee's trunk road network.

Blue badge parking costs reduced

Blue badge holders will be able to purchase books of parking tickets and receive up to 50% off from car parks in parts of south Somerset. The cards can be used in any council car park which is Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) compliant.

Amputee asked to prove disability

A man with no legs was asked to prove he was disabled before being allowed on to a bus in Manchester. Double amputee Brian Callaghan, 60, was asked for his disabled pass entitling him to free travel, while boarding the number 17 First bus to Middleton.

A disability rights charity has criticised £2.3m plans to renovate the historic Midsteeple in Dumfries. The Nithsdale Coalition of Disabled People said the local council should rethink the project's funding.
