Andy Canning

Dorset Council Candidate for Dorchester West and Dorchester West Town Council Candidate

Andy has been a councillor in Dorchester since 1999. He was elected as Mayor in 2012 and also ran as our Lib Dem Parliamentary Candidate in 2017.

For many years, he served as the Chairman of Dorchester's Heritage Committee and was involved in plans to upgrade the Roman Town House and improve tourist signage. Additionally, Andy chaired the group responsible for overseeing the town's Transport and Environment Plan.

This included the transformation of the lower half of South Street and the improvement of major junctions such as Great Western Cross, prioritizing pedestrians while still keeping traffic flowing. Andy has also been very supportive of the project to improve Fairfield car park.
