Twenty is Plenty for Dorset

We are calling on Dorset Council to streamline the current approach to 20mph speed limits in residential areas. The current process is too lengthy and bureaucratic, and simply represents another obstacle to keeping people safe. Reducing the speed limit to 20mph has several proven benefits. It reduces emissions by 25%, noise pollution by 50%, and fatal accidents by 20%, making our towns and villages safer and cleaner places to live. Areas that want 20mph zones should be able to get them, and not have to jump through hoops. Liberal Democrats want to change the system to put local people in control of their speed limits.
