Paul Holmes, MP for Chesterfield, has welcomed a government decision to accept a Liberal Democrat amendment to the Pensions Bill, which is currently going through Parliament. The effect of the government's decision will be to ensure that 40,000 more carers get the basic state pension, including an estimated 66 in Chesterfield and 2860 people across the whole of the East Midlands.
Commenting on the continued failure of the Labour Government to disclose to the public the list of post offices facing closure, Paul Holmes, Liberal Democrat MP for Chesterfield said:

Introduced by Lord Ashley of Stoke, the Private Member's Bill is aimed at tackling the growing gap in social care, and ensuring greater choice and support for disabled people and their carers.
