Charles Kennedy MP, Liberal Democrat Leader, this week launched his Party's manifesto for women. Amongst the proposals are plans to introduce a fairer Citizen's Pension, a Maternity Income Guarantee, and free long-term care for the elderly, helping both those in need and their carers.
Speaking at the Liberal Democrat spring conference in Harrogate today Totnes Prospective Parliamentary Candidate, Mike Treleaven, highlighted the dramatic rise in Council Tax likely after the next General Election if either the Labour Party or the Conservatives are returned to power.

Speaking at the Liberal Democrat Spring Conference in Harrogate earlier today, Totnes Prospective Parliamentary Candidate Mike Treleaven highlighted the problems caused by the lack of affordable housing in the constituency and backed calls for radical changes including an overhaul of the planning laws. New figures revealed today by Parmjit Singh Gill, Member of Parliament for Leicester South, show that the University Hospitals of Leicester Trust has had 715 cancelled operations so far this year. This means the Trust ranks 9th highest in the country for last minute cancellations for non clinical operations in the whole country.
The final plans for the development of the former GKN site in Springvale were reviewed by residents and local Liberal Democrat councillors at a meeting held on the 20th January last.
