Local Lib Dems Launch County Council Manifesto

Epping Forest Liberal Democrat candidates launched their manifesto on Saturday for the county elections on 5 May. They are fighting for a cleaner and greener Essex, more spending on road and pavement maintenance, and better provision for young people in their local areas.

Surrey County Council Elections 5th May

The battle for places on the new 80-seat County Council goes into top gear as nominations close later this week. This is expected to be the last set of councillors to hold their meetings at the historic County Hall in Kingston upon Thames, which is nowadays outside the administrative county of Surrey. The new building in Woking is intended to come into use before the end of 2007.

Six Labour Councillors found guilty of postal vote fraud

Richard Mawrey QC, the Electoral Commissioner has today ruled that six Councillors in Birmingham were elected due to massive postal vote fraud. Mr. Mawrey ruled that the six Councillors lose their seats and re-runs occur. He further compared Birmingham City Council to a Banana Republic.
