Scarborough and Whitby Liberal Democrats would like to congratulate Ming Campbell on his election as Leader of the Liberal Democrats. His experience both in and out of politics will be an asset to the party. He is held in high regard in Westminster and his wisdom over the Iraq war has earned him great respect outside the party.

Liberal Democrats lay down challenge to Blair's Education Bill
At the weekend's Liberal Democrat Conference in Harrogate, the Liberal Democrats outlined its alternatives to the Government's Education Bill. Edward Davey MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Education Secretary told conference that the current Bill focused on standards not structures. Labour's plans are not based on evidence and fail to offer pupils the real choice they will get under Liberal Democrat proposals.

Cllr Helen Dick gives her support to Fairtrade Fortnight
Dundee City Council's LibDem Vice Convener of Environmental Services and Sustainability, Cllr Helen Dick, today (Monday 6th March) gave her strong support to Fairtrade Fortnight, aimed at promoting Fairtrade and encourage others to regularly purchase products with the Fairtrade mark.

MP raises hospital cuts at Lib Dem conference
