Councillor Surgery moves Closer to Home

Court Ward's new Lib Dem councillors are bringing their advice surgeries to the Longmead Centre in Sefton Road. The first surgery will be held on Saturday 8th December between 10.00 am and midday. The surgery is free and no appointment is necessary. The December surgery provides an opportunity for local residents to talk about the Hollymoor Lane redevelopment for which the borough council has now received a formal planning application.

View from the Commons -Is That It!

A few weeks ago, in the face of plummeting opinion polls, Gordon Brown bottled out of calling an election. He argued that he wanted time to show the country his vision as Prime Minister. Well now we have had his first Queen's Speech to start the new session of Parliament and what an anticlimax. In fact it was very similar to the last ten Queen's speeches from the Blair/Brown era.

Folkestone Fire Brigade in Cliff Top Dog Rescue

A pleasant walk with the dog led to a cliff top drama in Folkestone when the pet disappeared over a cliff top. Folkestone firefighters were called to cliffs at the Warren at 11.45 this morning with a report of a dog who ran from its lady owner, then fell from the footpath into the steep drop below.

Lib Dem leadership candidates want ex-leaders in their teams

The two men vying to be the next Lib Dem leader have both said they would happily welcome back their predecessors into their front bench teams. They were speaking during a special edition of Question Time on BBC TV. Mr Clegg said he had already had private conversations with Sir Menzies Campbell and Charles Kennedy. Mr Huhne said it would be foolish not to make use of men of their "calibre".
