The unbelievable 'coalition' between Labour and Conservatives in Rochdale (the only one to my knowledge in the UK) has made me more determined than ever to offer an alternative to the people of Wardle and West Littleborough. This 'unholy alliance' was formed only days after Paul Rowen was elected as our Liberal Democrat MP. Clearly only serving the Labour/Conservative councillors by enabling them to ride 'rough shod' over the majority of voters and taxpayers.
I am married with an adult family and I am proud and honoured to have been one of your councillor's for the last two years. I have conscientiously attended meetings and taken up personal complaints and held regular surgeries for problems. I continue with my voluntary work as Chairman of Rochdale Liberal Democrats.
I have been selected to stand in local elections in Smallbridge and Firgrove. Local Residents will not be surprised - as I have been working for many months for our area.
I was elected as local councillor in Norden in 2004 and I am standing for re-election because I have really enjoyed working together with the people in my ward and representing them on the Council. I have received enormous support from many local residents and I believe together we achieved a number of very positive results. I look at many issues as ongoing and needing continued effort in order to see a long- term solution.
I have represented Milnrow and Newhey for four years and been an integral part of the Milnrow and Newhey Liberal Democrat team, alongside Councillors Keith Swift and Irene Davidson.
