Leicester Students take their case to Parliament and meet with local MP

Today, Parmjit Singh Gill, Member of Parliament for Leicester South met students from Leicester and De Montfort Universities and Leicester College at the Palace of Westminster. This comes on the day the National Union of Students (NUS) hosted a meeting in Parliament on Further and Higher Education. This event brought together student officers from across the UK. Discussions focused on their concerns and grievances for Higher Education and the Governments decision in introduce University Tuition and Top-up fees.

Wolverhampton - Walsall train service to be axed

The Strategic Rail Authority has, in its Route Utilisation Strategy, proposed the Wolverhampton to Walsall rail service be axed. This does not come as a surprise to Wolverhampton South West Liberal Democrat Prospective Parliamentary Candidate Colin Ross who, as a regularly user of the service, said "I have felt the passengers were been softened up for this, the service has in fact been a rail replacement coach since the New Year."

Labour Selection Policies Hit Special Needs Children Hardest

Liberal Democrat Disability Spokesman and member of the Education and Skills Select Committee, Paul Holmes MP, questioned the Secretary of State for Education, Rt Hon Ruth Kelly MP, today over the failure to practise inclusion for children with Special Educational Needs, including disabilities.
