Liberal Democrats launch Law and Order mini-manifesto

Charles Kennedy MP, Leader of the Liberal Democrats today launched his Party's Law and Order mini-manifesto. The document outlines plans to put 10,000 more police officers and 20,000 more Community Support Officers onto Britain's streets.

RELIEF AS PHONE MAST APPLICATION WITHDRAWN

Liberal Democrats have been campaigning strongly at both local and national levels to stop the blight of phone masts being built in residential areas near homes and schools. They were delighted to hear that the phone mast upgrade application at Kestrel Way, adjacent to the Goldsworth Trading Estate Recycling Centre, has been withdrawn. Dr Anne Lee said "I hope that the phone company are not thinking that this is just a temporary withdrawal, we know that residents will be fighting them all the way".

Liberal Democrats call on Tories to publish secret plans for public service cuts

Dr Vince Cable MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Chancellor has called for the Conservative Party to publish in full the James Report proposals for cuts in investment in public services. The call comes after Howard Flight's admission of concealed Tory spending cut plans and the admission by George Osborne (Tory Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury) that the Tories have so far not publicly accepted some of the more politically sensitive James Report spending cut plans.
