County Council Campaign off to strong start

The Bedford Liberal Democrats are fighting locally in every seat for the Bedfordshire County Council elections to be held on 7th June - the same day as the General Election. "We're getting a fantastic reaction on the doorstep" said Lib Dem County Council Candidate for Brickhill Nick Hills. "People are so disappointed with the Tory run County Hall" added Nick. "In the last year, the Tories have authorised County spending of over £800,000 on fat-cat consultants and lawyers. We want to see that money spent on real services like trachers for our schools and nurses in local hospitals." The Liberal Democrat campaign is based on 4 "Pledges for Bedfordshire". Every Liberal Democrat councillor elected, every vote we get will be used to strengthen the Lib Dem campaign for education, the needs of the elderly and disabled, our local economy and protection and improvement of the environment.

Michael Headley to fight for Bedford as the Liberal Democrat candidate

Michael Headley will fight the Bedford and Kempston Seat at the forthcoming election, and is delighted to be fighting for local people to get a better deal. "Labour have failed Bedford, and should never be forgiven for that." said Michael as he launched the Lib Dem campaign."Bedford needs real investment in its hospitals - so "morgue" stories like those last year NEVER occur again. It needs to see more investment in local schools. And it needs to see more police to tackle crime and more money for local pensioners to have a decent standard of living. Last time Labour promised so much - and they're still promising, whilst local services get no better." Michael added "As for the Tories, People in Bedford remember how awful they were last time, devastating local services. In Bedford the Liberal Democrats are the strong challengers to Labour. The Conservatives are in disarray with their party splitting in two. They only have 2 councillors in the whole of Bedford & Kempston." "I'm delighted that the Liberal Dem

Door to Door More Important Than Labour's Little Games

Bedford's Liberal Democrats are disappointed and saddened by Labour's "cynical abuse of Door to Door" in their attempt to re-write history. "I don't know which I am more angry about," said Liberal Democrat Leader Michael Headley. "Labour's ludicrous attempt to re-write history or their continued cynical abuse of Door to Door." "Door to Door are far too valuable to this borough to be kicked around like this." Said Michael Headley. "Labour chose to play political games with Door to Door when they tore away their funding. Now they are rubbing salt into the wounds by dragging it up again. And of course now they are trying to re-write the history books and claim credit for saving Door to Door when it was they who were its greatest persecutors." "They seem to think that the people of Bedford have short memories." Continued Cllr Headley. "They want us to thank them for their generosity in removing Door to Door's long term funding and replacing it with a one off hand out. Cllr Hunt has confirmed that the Labour group
