ID Card cost already £32million

Liberal Democrat Question have revealed that the Government has already spent £32m preparing for its ID card scheme even before it becomes law. Spending rose from £25,000 to £63,000 a day in the last six months of 2005, the Home Office said.

New Leisure Centre set for Approval

New swimming facilities will be provided as part of Staveley's new leisure centre from the day it opens. The new 'healthy living leisure centre' at Barlow Road will replace the crumbling Middlecroft Leisure Centre, which is scheduled to close by the end of May, at the very latest, for health and safety reasons. The final go-ahead is expected to be given by the Council's Cabinet at its meeting on Tuesday, March 7.

Shepway Council have bowed to Cheriton residents power and reduced proposed increases in parking charges. Having collected 100's of parking petition signatures from residents, Lib Dem Campaigner Tim Prater is pleased the Council has been forced to listen but wants the increases stopped totally.
