Campbell challenges Blair over wealth inequality

At Prime Minister's Questions yesterday, Menzies Campbell again challenged Tony Blair as to why "the poorest fifth of people in this country have a lower share of national income than they did in 1997". When Mr Blair failed to answer this direct question about inequality, Mr Campbell instead asked him to concede that the budget will hit hardest those earning less than £18,500 a year who are not eligible for tax credits. Mr Blair again deflected the question.

Drug-free therapy 'fights asthma'

A drug-free treatment has helped people control their asthma symptoms for up to a year, a study has found. Bronchial thermoplasty uses radio frequency currents to reduce the amount of smooth muscle in the airways, stopping the narrowing seen in asthma.

Gurkhas Return to Westminster: Fair Pensions for All Campaign Backed by Ming

Liberal Democrat Leader Menzies Campbell today met with a delegation of Gurkha veterans in Westminster, and backed their ongoing campaign for fairer pensions. Menzies Campbell called for an immediate review to deliver fairer pensions to the many Gurkha veterans on low pensions or no pension at all.
