The open space was deliberately created when the old closely packed Victorian terraces were demolished to give future generations a breathing space. Robin Lawrence, Park Ward Lib Dem candidate, said "Fourteen flats are not needed here. Coleman Street and Gibbs Street are well known for being quiet areas of Wolverhampton and all that will happen with further housing is an increase in traffic and noise and a reduction in the quality of life for current residents."
