Shepway's Heroes Return

Shepway's Second World War veterans have until the end of May to take up the opportunity of a grant for travel costs to revisit the countries where they served. Nearly 400 people from the south of England are being given the opportunity to travel overseas and remember fallen comrades from World War II.

Sanger Welcomes Improved Shepway Recycling Services

Local campaigner Emily Sanger has welcomed the improved recycling service to be rolled out across Folkestone in the next few weeks. The first batch of boxes and bags for Shepway Council's new waste management service will be delivered next week (week beginning Monday 15 May).

In his monthly update to West End Community Council tonight (Tuesday 10th May 2005), Tay Bridges Ward Liberal Democrat Councillor Fraser Macpherson reported progress relative to concerns raised by Blackness Primary School Parent-Teacher Association about safety at the Perth Road/Blackness Avenue/Shepherd's Loan junction in Dundee's West End.

Large increase Liberal Democrat vote

The recent general election saw a good result for the Liberal Democrats in both Southampton seats. In Southampton Itchen the Liberal Democrat vote increased from 6195 to 9162 an increase of nearly 50%. Overall Liberal Democrat the share of the vote increased by 6.2% while Labour's vote decreased by 6.2%. This increase in support was even above the national average increase in Liberal Democrat support of 3.8% and far exceeded the 1.7% increase for the south east of England.
